For Tonshuwray Catlin, beauty is about much more than appearance. It's an expression of individuality, confidence and what comes from within.
Originally from Lawndale, North Carolina, and now residing in Charlotte, the 30-year-old Emergency Medical Dispatcher draws beauty and style inspiration from fashion, nature, different cultures and the world around her.
As she continues her own journey, Tonshuwray is also preparing for an exciting professional chapter—one that combines her background in psychology with her growing expertise in human resources.
Where do you get your beauty inspiration?
“I draw inspiration from various sources, including social media influencers, fashion magazines, and nature. I love exploring different cultures and their beauty standards, which helps me find unique styles that resonate with me.”
What's your beauty philosophy?
“My beauty philosophy centers around the idea that true beauty comes from within. I believe in embracing individuality and using beauty as a way to express who I am, rather than conforming to societal standards.”
What's your daily beauty routine?
“My daily beauty routine includes cleansing my face, applying a moisturizer, and using sunscreen. I keep my makeup minimal with just a bit of foundation, mascara, and lip gloss. I also make sure to stay hydrated and eat healthily to maintain my skin's glow.”
Your best beauty secret?
“My best beauty secret is to always remove makeup before going to bed and to invest in good skincare products. Additionally, I believe that a positive mindset and regular exercise contribute significantly to one's overall beauty.”
Who is your style icon?
“I admire many style icons, but one of my favorites is Rihanna. Her ability to mix high fashion with everyday wear inspires me to be bold and creative with my style.”
What's next for you?
“I have my bachelor's degree in psychology and will be graduating with my master's in Human Resources in December. My end goal is to become an internal organizational psychologist, where I can use my knowledge to enhance workplace culture, improve employee wellbeing, and contribute to organizational success. I'm excited about the opportunities ahead and how I can make a positive impact in this field.”
