Randy Travis

Randy Travis grew up in Marshville, North Carolina and became the leading figure of country music's mid-1980s neotraditional movement.

Storms of Life sold millions and reset the genre's direction toward traditional sounds.

A Union County singer pulled mainstream country back toward fiddles and steel guitar at a moment when it had drifted toward pop.
