Little Brother

Little Brother formed in Durham at North Carolina Central University, built around rappers Phonte and Big Pooh with producer 9th Wonder.

Their debut album The Listening (2003) and follow-up The Minstrel Show (2005) became touchstones of 2000s independent hip-hop.

The group's whole origin story is a North Carolina campus story, and their records carried the Triangle's cadence into national conversations about where good rap comes from.

Their 2019 reunion album May the Lord Watch showed how durable that Durham foundation was.
