Jodeci

Jodeci formed in Charlotte, North Carolina, bringing together brothers K-Ci and JoJo Hailey with brothers DeVante Swing and Mr. Dalvin DeGrate.

Their 1991 debut Forever My Lady, released on Uptown Records, made them one of the defining R&B groups of the decade.

A Charlotte group changed the sound and the look of 1990s R&B — rougher, more hip-hop adjacent, less polished than the groups that came before them.

Jodeci redrew the line between R&B and hip-hop and influenced nearly every male vocal group that followed.
